CHERM Participates in Quezon RLGSS Contextualization

The Center for Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping (CHERM) is in part with the Province of Quezon to enhance disaster resilience through the Resilient Local Government System Scorecard (RLGSS) program. Supported by the SHIELD Program, this initiative aims to improve local disaster preparedness and climate risk management.

SLSU-CHERM in Collaboration with GeoRisk Philippines

SLSU-CHERM in collaboration with GeoRisk Philippines, DOST Quezon, DOST CALABARZON and Provincial Government of Quezon capacitated 43 individuals from Quezon Province in using GeoRisk Philippines Platforms in assessing hazards and exposures for various stakeholders last October 10 at Southern Luzon State University Main Campus.

SLSU-CHERM Welcomes The Coconut / Ang Niyog Team

SLSU-CHERM welcomed the team from Quezon National High School's publication, The Coconut/Ang Niyog, for an interview. Center Chief Anthony Laguador Empamano and representatives discussed the importance of hazard and environmental resource mapping in disaster preparedness and community resilience. The team also learned about our exercises and the value of active community participation in these initiatives.

CHERM Holds Meeting for the 2025 1st Quarter Assessment

CHERM held its 2025 1st Quarter Assessment Meeting to review accomplishments, address backlogs, and plan for the next quarter. Discussions focused on improving CHERM's mapping services, community engagement, and internal processes. The team also welcomed new interns who will support ongoing projects and various tasks within the center.

The SLSU-CHERM Joined the GeoRiskPH Platform Training Organized by Infanta LDRRMO and Facilitated by DOST-PHIVOLCS.

The Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) - Center for Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping (CHERM) participated in the GeoRiskPH Platforms Training organized by Infanta LDRRMO and facilitated by DOST-PHIVOLCS to enhance its technical capacity in geospatial tools for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM). The two-day training strengthened CHERM's collaboration with local stakeholders, improved its skills in using HazardHunterPH, GeoMapperPH, and GeoAnalyticsPH, and reinforced its commitment to supporting LGUs in hazard mapping, exposure data collection, and risk analysis.

SLSU-CHERM is with the Quezon Provincial Government toward Resiliency

CHERM, together with the SLSU - Planning Office, participated in the Joint Technical Mission Workshop of NRC Resilience 101 and UN-Habitat PCRD Modules under the Quezon Resilience Council SHIELD Program held on November 26–28, 2024, in Lucena City. The activity aimed to strengthen program implementation, deepen understanding of resilience and bridging leadership, and support Quezon Province's advocacy for safe and climate-resilient communities.
